George Rowley

Described by Musical Opinion Magazineas a "gifted young artist”, George Rowley has quickly established himselfas a leading figure in classical music. Amongst his most recent projects wasthe premier release of the piano sonatas of Ivor Gurney on Naxos. As a soloist,George has performed throughout the UK and internationally, appearing at theWinchester Festival, the Holywell Rooms, the SkyArts Salon, and the LiddellConcert Series, among others.

 

George is a laureate of numerousinternational competitions including the Brighton Concerto Competition, theIntercollegiate Beethoven Competition and the Ian Stoutzker Prize. In 2018George was also awarded the Weingarten scholarship resulting in the pursuit ofpostgraduate studies at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.

 

In addition to his performing career,George dedicates part of his life to the education of young pianists, servingas a professor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire junior department as wellas Cheltenham Ladies’ College. He combines his teaching with examining andadjudicating both in the UK and overseas.

 

George’s mentors have included MarkBebbington, Mikhail Kazakevich, James Kirby, László Borbély and he received hismusical education at Hannover Hochschule für Musik, Royal BirminghamConservatoire and the Franz Liszt Academy with full scholarship. He has alsoparticipated in masterclasses with Natalia Trull, Nikolai Demidenko, FreddyKempf, Steven Osbourne and Peter Donohoe.
